A former senior trial attorney with the United States Department of Justice, Mr. Murphy's litigation practice focuses on administrative, civil and criminal environmental matters, the resolution of business and commercial disputes, including property tax and condemnation matters, and the resolution of government enforcement actions.
Mr. Murphy has successfully resolved a diverse range of legal issues for clients both large and small including: property ownership and use rights, environmental and energy regulatory matters, property tax, condemnation, and government regulatory matters, insurance coverage issues, all manner of business and commercial disputes, Constitutional claims, and the defense of alleged environmental crimes.
He has a wealth of experience resolving both simple and complex non-litigation environmental and regulatory issues involving permitting; regulatory compliance; site remediation; due diligence, audits and internal investigations; the sale, acquisition and development of environmentally impacted properties; the intricacies of Brownfield programs and property transfer laws and the resolution of federal listing and debarment matters.
Mr. Murphy was awarded his B.A. Cum Laude from Syracuse University and earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School. He is admitted to practice law in the States of New York and Connecticut, to plead cases before all United States District Courts in New York and Connecticut, and to appear before the United States Court of Appeals in the Second, Fourth and District of Columbia Circuits.
Mr. Murphy has served as an adjunct faculty member at Syracuse University School of Law and he currently serves on the Board of the Hiscock Legal Aid Society.
